Median Wealth In 2011 US (excluding home equity)

The takeaway from this summary of wealth in the US:  the median net worth of households in 2011 excluding housing equity is approximately $17,000 for the US as a whole, with lower values in the South ($13K) and higher values in the North East ($20K).  This measure does not include the cash value of insurance, pensions, and personal belongings (e.g. jewelry and furniture).
